Madrid Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011

on | |

Madrid Fashion Week finished last week showing the spring/summer collection 2011 of the best Spanish designers. This year I haven't been able to go there because I am not in Madrid, but as a good Spanish fashion lover I have seen all the shows thanks to my blogger friends and vogue.es

I have done a selection of my favourites Spanish designers of next season. I hope you enjoy it :)

1. Alma Aguilar.

Alma Aguilar has showed a romantic and feminine style inspired by the horse racing. The range of colours from blue to lavender, silk fabrics and whimsical shapes on the clothes. The finishing touch were the exquisite headgears with feathers which reminds me to Robin Hood.
Draped clothes that simulates the effect of the skirts and pants when riding a horse, showed the extraordinary technique of the designer.
Alma has currently became one of my favourites designers, I love the feeling of her clothes and the serenity I feel when I see the movement of the fabrics she uses. Also I think the baby collars of the shirts are so lovely and characteristic.

2. Cati Serrà.

Cati Serrà is one of the new Spanish designers that showed her collection in Madrid Fashion Week. I saw her first collection last season in Madrid and it was one of the first catwalks I went to. I was able to meet her personally and I feel fortunate because I really liked her last season as I also love her spring/summer 2011 designs.
I think successful the colour palette she has used, from turquoise to coral. Inspired by a heavenly sea and transporting us to the marine world.
Clothes as dresses, shorts and slim pants with a femininity touch for women. Love the waves forms in the fabrics and the combination of ocean colours with white and gold.

3. Devota&Lomba.

I have to admit Devota&Lomba has impressed me so much. Last season was so geometric for my taste. It usually uses geometric shapes in his designs but this season he has not abuse about that, what makes me like more.
I love the fabrics and colours he has used as cotton and silk. The colours are inspired by the nature.

4. Duyos.

I discovered Duyos not long time ago although he has an old and famous career. He was one of my favourite designers last spring/summer 2010 and I also was impressed by his spring/summer 2011 collection.
This collection is called "landscape" and it really transmits peace and tranquillity feeling. There have been used natural fabrics, pastel and soft colours combined with stronger ones as fuchsia. Beautiful satins, cottons and silk have been used.
I admired Duyos catwalk as there were old beautiful women showing elegant clothes and demonstrating that we are not always young but we can be always beautiful. I just have to say: I adore Duyos.

5. Kina Fernandez.

The cottage in countryside has inspired Kina Fernandez. She has used natural colours as hazel, beige and crude. When you see her collection you are transported to a house of the 50s. It shows sophisticated, elegant and feminine women. I like the volume of the long skirts and the little hats she has showed.

6. Miguel Palacio.

I love Miguel Palacio designs, I love the exquisite touch in every cloth, the movement of the fabrics, and the elegance they transmit. Marking the women figure with beautiful belts. Feminine bows and great combination of turquoise and blue, black and coral.

7. Sita Murt.

I went to Sita Murt last season and I was so sorry for not being able to go this one. I really like her simple but feminine designs. They are so wearable but also chic.
This spring/summer 2011 collection has called "chlorophyll" as it reflects green plants as organic shapes. Sita Murt is feminine and romantic.

Which designer is your favourite?

I've made the collages with photos from vogue.es where you can see all the shows of Madrid Fashion Week.

Dear, I love this post! I mean I am not from Spain but is such a great deal that Fashion Week there seems big! The clothes look gorgeous, they seem really talented designers, it's a shame you don't see them amongst the brightest stars in Paris or Milan. Who know how many designers are there without knowing this success..

I find Spanish fashion for truly inspirational, thanks for sharing it with us. And Cati Serrà impressed me in the good way, very nice sense of colors, which seem to be a winning formula for next Spring.

Ohh, just what I needed! A recap of the Madrid Fashion Week! Too bad they schedule it for the same time as the London Fashion Week, I'd love to be able to see more of the Spanish fashion society. Btw I like Sita Murt's work the most.
I also like this post because my fav model is featured, she walked in Madrid in Spring, I was expecting to see her on the runway again.
Big big thanks for the post!
